The New Year is often a time for self-reflection, a time of letting go of the old and embracing the new, a time of commitment to change old patterns that no longer serve us, and find new beliefs in ourselves.

Perhaps you have made a commitment to kick a habit like Smoking Cigarettes, or Binging on Alcohol. Maybe you want to change your habit of poor diet and taking too little exercise. You may have promised yourself that you will build more Self Confidence so that you can get over your fear of Public Speaking and move forward in your career. If Stress and Anxiety are a problem, then you might be looking at ways to bring a greater sense of relaxation and well-being into your daily life. If you have a problem that feels outside of your control, like Panic Attacks, an Addiction, a Phobia or Fear of Flying, or something else that you are considering seeking treatment for.

As well as these things, you may be thinking that your life is in need of a makeover. You may be thinking about changing your career path, finding your soul mate, or something else that requires a new level of belief in yourself. If you want to make some changes to your lifestyle, then you may feel overwhelmed by the task at hand or fearful of some of the actions that you need to take.  The thing is, most of us have made New Year’s resolutions in the past, and have failed to stick to them. Even now, you may already know the thing you want to change but are, on some level, already beginning to doubt yourself. One of the reasons why our New Year’s resolutions don’t usually become permanent is because the resolution is made only on the conscious level of the mind. When a resolution is made only at this level, we tend to rely on willpower driven effort to force ourselves into action. No wonder that resolutions can feel more like Revolutions that end up inadvertently causing stress and imbalance in other areas of our lives.

It is well known these days that our unconscious mind is responsible for over 90% of our behaviours, actions, and choices. This is why having Hypnotherapy treatment with a skilled Hypnotherapist is an essential part of turning resolutions into lasting positive change. Our unwanted habits, our outdated beliefs about ourselves and what we are capable of, our fears and other forms of self-sabotage, are mostly running off learnt patterns that were formed much earlier in our lives. When these patterns were formed, we didn’t have the maturity and understanding that we have now and so they may have been the best choice we had at the time, even though they almost certainly are not the best choice we have available now. Hypnotherapy helps in changing these old patterns and updating them to something more useful, ecological, and supportive for what we really want. Old beliefs can be updated or let go of altogether, and habits and fears can have the charge taken out of them, which leaves us less held back and more free to be ourselves.

Hypnotherapy works directly with the unconscious aspect of mind, and a skilled hypnotherapist can help you in aligning your unconscious and conscious minds so that change happens more easily and naturally. So that your New Year’s Resolution becomes an evolution for permanent positive change, rather than a ‘willpower fuelled’ resolution that often does more harm than good.

Whatever your New Year’s Resolution is, Hypnotherapy Associates can help you make it a reality. Be it simply letting go of a habit like biting your nails, or a full life makeover, The Hypnotherapists at Hypnotherapy Associates have the expertise to guide you in making your New Year’s resolution a lasting one.
